The Region of Murcia \u2014 and its coastline, the Costa C\u00e1lida, or \u201cHot Coast\u201d \u2014 has become one of Europe&#8217;s most rewarding golf destinations, and it is still far less crowded than the better-known Costa del Sol.<\/p>\n<p>Here is why so many golfers from Iceland, Germany, the UK and Scandinavia keep coming back.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Sunshine almost all year round <\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Murcia enjoys more than 300 days of sunshine a year and an average temperature of around 19 \u00b0C. While much of northern Europe is dark and frozen, you can play a comfortable round here in shorts in January. Names like Roda Golf, La Serena Golf and the Jack Nicklaus-designed &#8211; La Torre \u00a0Golf ,\u00a0 Hacienda Riquellme \u00a0Golf, \u00a0El Valle\u00a0 Golf \u00a0,\u00a0 Saurines de la Torre Golf \u00a0, etc. \u00a0&#8211; give you real variety, from relaxed \u00a0golf courses beside the Mar Menor sea to genuine championship tests. \u00a0You can play a different course each day without long drives.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Golf in the morning, the sea in the afternoon <\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Murcia is compact in the best way. You can tee off in the morning, have lunch by the Mediterranean, and still have time to relax. The pace is calm, the food is excellent and good value, and Alicante airport \u2014 with direct flights from across northern Europe \u2014 is an easy transfer away.<\/p>\n<p><strong>A friendlier, less crowded alternative <\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Murcia offers the same climate and quality of golf as more famous destinations, but with fewer crowds and more reasonable prices.
