Golf tourism in Iceland

During the hot summer months, Murcia and Alicante are more famous for their Mediterranean beaches. Golfers often take a break from playing or travel to countries with milder climates to practice.

Playing golf in Iceland in June, July, and August can be an unforgettable experience!

Especially in June and early July, around the summer solstice on June 24th, Iceland experiences the phenomenon of the Midnight sun.

For golfers, this offers a unique adventure: the opportunity to play golf all night long!

Golf is a very popular sport in Iceland, second only to football (soccer).

Despite Iceland’s volcanic terrain, there are 60 golf courses, 17 of which have 18 holes.

Jon Halldor Gardarsson, an Icelander, offers golf lessons at several courses near Reykjavik, which are plentiful in this area.

One of them is the Keilir Golf Club, located on the Atlantic coast in his hometown of Hafnarfjordur, about 20 minutes from the capital.

Besides golf, tourists can take various excursions to famous sights, such as Reykjavík’s most famous church, Hallgrímskirkja, with its 74-meter-high tower offering a 360-degree panoramic view; the impressive Gullfoss waterfall; the Geysir geothermal springs; and the Jökulsárlón glacier lagoon or Mýrdalsjökull iceberg ,which are very pleasant to visit during the summer months.
