Gardarsson Golf School offers private golf lessons on the courses of Murcia and southern Alicante, on the Costa Cálida and Costa Blanca. Lessons are given by a PGA professional, in English, German, Icelandic or Spanish, to players of every level from complete beginners upwards.

Who teaches

Lessons are taught by Jon Halldor Gardarsson, a PGA golf professional. He was born in Iceland and grew up in Hafnarfjörður, near Reykjavik, where he competed for Icelandic national squads in several sports.

At twenty he was signed as a professional footballer in Cologne, Germany, and studied at the Deutsche Sporthochschule Köln in parallel. He is qualified as a physical education teacher and in sports psychology — a background that shapes how the lessons are structured, particularly the mental side of the game.

Where the lessons take place

Lessons are held on established courses across the region rather than at a single driving range, so you practise in real playing conditions:

The teaching area runs from Cartagena to Alicante, so lessons can usually be arranged at the course closest to where you are staying.

Lessons by area: Murcia · Mar Menor and Los Alcázares · Alicante and the Costa Blanca

What the lessons cover

Golf breaks down into four parts, and each is trained separately:

Putting deserves particular attention: it accounts for roughly 66% of your score, and it is easier to improve than most players assume.

Lesson programmes

Beginners

No previous experience is needed. Club hire is available at the courses, so there is no need to buy a set before your first lesson. The first lessons cover grip, stance and how the swing works, at a pace that suits you.

Private one-to-one lessons

Individual coaching on whichever part of your game you want to improve, on the course of your choice.

Ladies golf

A programme for women covering technique across all areas, from the full swing to the short game.

Junior golf

Coaching for children. Alongside technique, golf teaches patience, concentration and self-control — which is why many families take it up.

Short game and putting

Focused work around the green: chipping, pitching, bunker play and putting — the fastest route to a lower score for most players.

Full details of each programme are on the courses page.

When to come

South-east Spain has more than 300 days of sunshine a year. Winter temperatures stay between 10 and 18 °C, rarely drop below 5 °C, and climb to 20–22 °C during the day. In practice this means golf is comfortable right through the winter, and the best season runs from autumn to spring — exactly when courses further north are closed or waterlogged.

Lessons as part of a golf holiday

Lessons can be booked on their own, or as part of an organised stay that includes hotel and breakfast, green fees, airport and course transfers, and coaching. Three stays are available, in Los Alcázares, Roldán and Algorfa.

See golf stays for what each one includes, or what we offer for an overview of all services.

How to book

Tell us your level, the dates you have in mind and where you will be staying, and we will suggest a course and a schedule.
