Golf lessons on the two courses beside the Mar Menor, at Los Alcázares in Murcia. Taught by a PGA professional, for every level from complete beginner upwards, in English, German, Icelandic or Spanish.
Where the lessons take place
The Mar Menor is the largest saltwater lagoon in the Mediterranean, and the two courses nearest to it sit just outside Los Alcázares, a few minutes from the water.
Roda Golf
An 18-hole par 72 designed by Dave Thomas, and one of the best known courses in the region. It stands out for the standard of maintenance across every area of the course and for its setting. The layout is a genuine challenge while remaining playable, which makes it a good place to work on course strategy as well as technique.
Serena Golf
A short distance away, with a character of its own. The two courses are different enough that comparing them directly makes little sense — playing both in the same week gives you two distinct sets of problems to solve, which is useful when the aim is to improve rather than simply to play.
Why this area suits learning
Los Alcázares sits on the Costa Cálida, which gets more than 300 days of sunshine a year. Winter temperatures stay between 10 and 18 °C and climb to 20–22 °C during the day, so lessons run through the winter without interruption. The area is also considerably less busy than Spain’s better-known golf coasts.
What can be worked on
- First lessons — grip, stance and how the swing works. Club hire is available at the course
- Long game — hitting further and straighter
- Short game — chipping and pitching, and getting out of a sand bunker properly
- Putting — reading the green and striking the centre of the face; putting is roughly 66% of your score
- Course strategy and the mental game — how to think your way round eighteen holes
- Ladies and junior programmes
See the golf lessons page for how the lessons are structured, or golf lessons in Murcia for the other courses in the region.
