Common questions about golf lessons and golf stays with Gardarsson Golf on the Costa Cálida and Costa Blanca. If your question is not here, get in touch and we will answer it directly.

Do I need my own clubs?

No. Club hire is available at the courses. At La Finca Golf the hire charge is 45 €; at Roda Golf and Serena Golf the price is available on request. Buggy and trolley hire are also charged separately and are not included in stay prices — buggy 42 € and trolley 8 € at Roda, buggy 46 € and trolley 9 € at La Finca. Current prices are listed on each stay page.

What languages are the lessons taught in?

Lessons are given in German, Icelandic, English and Spanish. Jon Halldor Gardarsson is Icelandic, played professional football in Germany and studied there, so the first three are his own working languages rather than a translation service.

Do you teach children?

Yes. There is a dedicated junior programme. Beyond technique, golf develops patience, concentration and self-control, which is why many families take it up.

Are there lessons for women?

Yes. There is a programme exclusively for women, covering technique across all areas of the game — the full swing, the short game and the rest.

Where exactly do the lessons take place?

On established courses rather than at a single driving range. Around Los Alcázares and the Mar Menor: Roda Golf and Serena Golf. Around Roldán in Murcia: Torre Golf, Hacienda Riquelme and El Valle Golf. In southern Alicante: La Finca Golf at Algorfa. The teaching area runs from Cartagena up to Alicante, so lessons can usually be arranged at the course closest to where you are staying.

Can I play golf here in winter?

Yes, and winter is one of the better times to come. South-east Spain has more than 300 days of sunshine a year. Winter temperatures stay between 10 and 18 °C, rarely fall below 5 °C and reach 20 to 22 °C during the day. The strongest golfing season runs from autumn through to spring.

What is included in a golf stay?

Hotel accommodation with breakfast, green fees, transfers from the airport to the hotel and between hotel and courses, and the lessons themselves. Buggy, trolley and club hire are not included. Three stays are available, based in Los Alcázares, Roldán and Algorfa — see golf stays for what each one covers, including the cancellation terms.

What parts of the game do the lessons cover?

Golf breaks down into four parts and each is trained separately: the long game, the short game, the mental side, and course strategy. Putting gets particular attention because it accounts for roughly 66% of your score and is easier to improve than most players expect. Full detail is on the courses page.
